In honor of Military Child Month, which is nationally recognized each April, Hunt Little Heroes will highlight military children ages 4-15 who are making a positive impact in their community or beyond. Glenview offers one townhouse floor plan available for all grades.

There are 38 buildings and more than 20,000 beds in unaccompanied accommodation units at the Great Lakes Naval Station. If you're an E1-E4 sailor arriving on base without your family, you'll probably end up in one.

If you PCS to the Great Lakes and do NOT want to send your kids to a bad school in North Chicago, this housing is for you! Downside... it's just a 2 bedroom townhouse. However, they are very wide!
LOTS of storage! The schools here in Glenview are great. K-2 is Westbrook School. 3-5 is Glen Grove School. 6-8 is Attea High School. Glenbrook South is a high school. (see reviews at greatschools.org) Many families here have 2 or more children.
Nimitz Village
It's not always ideal, but you can't skip education! It's about 20 miles south of the base. 25-30 minutes door to door. We have 4 small parks in the neighborhood. It is a mix of military and civilian.
This area has a lot to enjoy. There are single family homes as well as townhomes in 2, 3 and 4 bedroom floor plans. They range from 1,000 square feet to more than 1,300. And all grades qualify.
The community provides quick access to schools, pavilions and baseball fields. Between each house and the surroundings there are walking paths for those who lead an active lifestyle. Each home in Nimitz Village has a one-car garage.

Forrestal Village
It's a great community with lots of green space and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes for many different levels. Each is equipped with a garage, terrace or balcony, and all the usual home amenities such as a garbage disposal, central air conditioning and spacious closets.
Forrestal Village is also a youth center and child development center, so your kids will be kept busy. Halsey Village has 2 and 3 bedroom duplexes with a finished garage or basement. The community is right next to the commissary for easy access to shopping.
It is also close to other good basic amenities. This 2 bedroom home has basement laundry and extra storage and is available for all levels. 3 bedrooms are also available on all levels and feature a fireplace, patio and master suite.
